- Receive benefits – If you’re in a household that receives benefits such as UC and the others, you can be fully funded for the insulation measures.
- Low EPC – The EPC rating of your household must be D or below.

Charitable grants single parents
The following are some charitable grants that seek to help single parents across the country:
- Turn2us – Turn2us supports individuals and families in the form of hardship grants. They have databases of over 3000 charitable grants that they use to find the perfect match for whomever is coming to them.
- Family Fund – This is a support network for families raising disabled or seriously ill children or young people. They can provide grants for essential items and services, such as kitchen appliances or sensory devices, as well as offering guidance and support on many issues related to raising children with these conditions.

Universal credit
Universal credit is a lifeline to many, not just single parents. Universal credit effectively consolidates a wide range of benefits into one system, replacing legacy benefits such as:
- Child tax credit – Tax credits for families that have dependent children.
- Housing benefit – This benefit helps rent for low income families.
- Income support – This provided financial support for people with low income that work less than 16 hours a week.
- Income based Jobseeker’s allowance (JSA) – JSA was a benefit for those who are out of work and seeking it.

Child Tax Credit and Child Benefit (Child element)
Child tax credit was one of many benefits that have been incorporated into UC, meaning it is still active and will apply to any who are eligible for it. It provides essential financial assistance for each child single parents are responsible for, helping cover the costs of raising children (such as food, clothing and activities.) Having children below 16 (or 20 if in approved education/training) make you eligible, and you get more funding depending on how many children you have, and how old they are.
Child benefit, similarly, was a benefit that provided a tax-free payment to help parents with the cost of raising children under 16, or 20 if in approved education/training. Those that claim child benefit also have credits added to their pension.
