Up to £40,000 in Funding Available from GOV.UK

If your energy supplier is EDF, you could be entitled to free insulation grants as part of the government’s ECO4 (Energy Company Obligation) scheme. An uninsulated property can lose up more than half of its heat through its walls and loft/roof space as well as causing your energy bills to soar. Properly insulated homes can reduce the amount of heat you lose, meaning you will pay less on your bills, your carbon footprint will be lower, and your home will feel warmer, more comfortable and be better for your health.

Check your eligibility for EDF insulation grants with us today and we will put you in touch with ECO experts that will handle the entire process for you from start to finish.

What is ECO4 and who can qualify for free EDF insulation?

ECO4 is the fourth iteration of the Energy Company Obligation scheme, which aims to lower carbon emissions in domestic properties across the UK. EDF, along with other big energy companies, are participants in the scheme and required to provide funding in the form of grants that will cover the cost of installing energy efficient home improvements to eligible households.

In order to qualify for free EDF insulation funding, you need to be either a homeowner or a private tenant, claiming an income-related benefit, and be living in a high carbon-emitting property with inefficient systems in place to retain heat.

There are specific benefits that you could be receiving that are eligible for ECO4. This is to make sure that low-income and vulnerable individuals who are struggling with their energy bills and want to improve the energy saving measures in their homes can receive funding quickly and easily through their energy provider, like EDF, or their local authority. The qualifying benefits for free EDF insulation grants are:

  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Warm Home Discount Scheme Rebate
  • Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
  • Child Tax Credits (CTC)
  • Working Tax Credit (WTC)
  • Child Benefits
  • Universal Credit (UC)
  • Housing Benefit (ECO4)
  • Pension Credit Savings Credit (ECO4)iteration

What types of insulation can you get with EDF grants?

Cavity wall insulation grants from EDF

Cavity wall insulation can be fitted or replaced in your house, depending on a number of factors such as the type of house you are living in, whether you own the property or not, if EDF is your energy company, and if you are claiming a qualifying income-related benefit. If you’re not an EDF customer, cavity wall insulation could still be a viable option for you as many energy suppliers are signed up to ECO4 and will provide grants. For your home itself to be suitable for cavity wall insulation it should meet the requirements below:

  • The walls are not already filled (extraction can be done in specific circumstances)
  • The house is of a certain age and does not already have new cavity wall insulation
  • The brick walls are more than 260mm thick as this shows the building has a cavity wall
  • The home has a low Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of E, F, or G

Installing cavity wall insulation will reduce the heat loss from your home by as much as a third and could bring you annual savings of up to £690 (Source: Energy Saving Trust – based on a gas-heated detached property and fuel prices as of October 2022). In circumstances where cavity wall insulation is not an option, due to solid walls in the property,  internal or external layer wall insulation could be an alternative

Free loft insulation from EDF

Loft insulation is one of the most common types of insulation that the majority of properties should have. By checking your eligibility for EDF loft insulation funding, you could get high-quality insulation installed in your loft without you being out of pocket at all. If you’re still wondering if EDF loft insulation is right for you consider these benefits:

  • Fast turnover- there is minimal disruption to you during the installation process and everything will be handled by the professionals we put you in contact with.
  • Lower energy bills- having loft insulation will reduce your energy bills significantly and less heat will be lost in your home.
  • Reduce your CO2 footprint- your carbon emissions will be reduced with loft insulation and your home will be more environmentally friendly.
  • Increase your home’s value- having a good EPC rating thanks to your loft insulation can help make your house more desirable and valuable when it comes to selling.

Installing loft insulation will reduce the heat loss from your home by as much as a quarter and could bring you annual savings of up to £630 (Source: Energy Saving Trust – based on a gas-heated detached property previously uninsulated and fuel prices as of October 2022).
